Clipped wings of the thoughtful Raven

by Darren   Aug 6, 2015

I am a raven that cannot fly
Dark clouds have swallowed my sunshine
So hollow inside that my heart clatters my ribcage when I walk.

How many times can I re-ignite a passion
This candle can only burn for so long, so fast
Take a stake and drive it through my chest, you will miss my heart.

A straightjacket in tablet form controls me
I am no longer able to live freely, to shout loudly if I please
Because my existence is now predetermined, by my crazy thoughts.

A parallel universe has closed its door
That other person has stayed behind, sniggering, pointing
I am left to pick up the pieces, but it is a jigsaw with no beginning.

One day soon I will climb out of my mouth
I will push the pretence onto the floor and steal his seat
Seated I will write my hearts true desire, I will win a round, in life.
