Phoenix

Your words cut like knives castrating our connection forever
As I frantically struggle to glue the pieces back together

Let me lie here under the weight of your stare
Until this spark in me starts to churn and flare

The fire licking at my insides with so much torment
Releasing stored deposits of anger and lament

I can no longer feel the joy I used to know
Because you severed the lines that took years to sow

Now I must live with this gaping hole inside
Where the fire you ignited grew too hot to hide

I am changing into someone I cannot stand to be
Hot anger like molten lava has begun to consume me

The pressure building with its volcanic activity
About to erupt and take my soul into captivity
