Erased

It is what you did, not what you said,
that made me look inside your heart
and let you look back inside of mine.

I wanted to tread upon your vision of me,
to understand why you saw a precious pearl,
when all I saw was a broken mess.

But in this self-destructive mode of mine,
I quickly wash it all away from my mind,
because I am scared it won't be worth it in the end.

And I apologise for predicting
that something bad will come between us,
but it is usually what happens
when someone like you
stumbles on my life...

... before they then erase me.
