Aut Fortuna Bella Ferat

by Kakera   Nov 9, 2015

Let Fortune bring us favour,
or may she bring terrible wars,
to those of us who are Shadows
that fight against ourselves,
and the hypocrisy of the light,
hoping that our silhouettes
will carry meaning
with profoundness.

For through struggle,
we have learned
to breathe softly,
as if razor blades
were lodged
in our throats.

Goddess of Dismay,
I pray for your blindness.
Goddess of Betrayal,
I pray for your kindness.
Goddess of Suffering,
I pray for your revelations.

Through anguish,
We have learned
that solitude is
colder than any winter;
that blessings are blessings
and not divine rights -
thus can they
be taken
from us.

Goddess of Death,
I pray for your forgiveness,
because to you I swore
that I would cherish
the gift you gave me

Goddess of Life,
I pray for your forgiveness,
because to you I swore
that I would cherish
the gift you gave me

But as my ugliness became illuminated
I became disillusioned with Gods and Men,
because I can no longer see their kindness.

Goddesses of Life and Death,
I swear again to cherish
the life I was given;
I hope to see tomorrow
and enjoy the feeling
of my soul decaying

as I travel towards ascendance,
to insights that are greater than faith,

Let Fortune bring me favour
or let her bring me wars

as I continue reaching
for greater things
than mere survival

as winter comes again,
and I'm all alone;

Let Fortune bring me favour,
or may she bring me wars:

Even if my heart
yet sleeps within
the womb of Chaos,

I will force myself
to endure it all.
