I won't make a move

by Yakari Gabriel   Nov 28, 2015

I do not think of myself as
a poet anymore though,
there is too much honesty
and too little beauty in these words.
They are no longer worthy of the title.

But i'll tell you this much,
I've been dying to make a poem
out of you. Those that grab you
like palms around of neck and leave
you gasping. turn you into pretty metaphors,
from head to toe

there is something so endearing,
about the way you chose to exist
where do you put all that kindness?
when you go to bed at night?
who do you go home to?

I have too many questions
and not as much courage,
and way too little faith
because you know, afro latinas
didn't even make it to be subject
at school. so, I have kinda accepted,
that love doesn't have a concept
for women who carry
my traits
