Like honey in your coffee

by Yakari Gabriel   Jan 24, 2016

I no longer want you to ask me,
to expand my horizons.
don't ask me to learn
more languages
that are not mine, languages
that made my broken Spanish bleed

Stop reminding me,
that my English
is good and that
my Dutch sounds funny

Even the veins of my soul are
hurting- and, if you
had really loved me
you would have cook
me some arros morro,
and let me sleep in
but, you always had me
like honey in your coffee
anyways

..only used me, when you were
out of sugar

------------
author's note : arros morro is a typical Dominican dish
