What Used to be Ours

by JB Guancia Dormido   Feb 4, 2016

I used to walk these hallways with you,
But now there's only me
and this crippling cold air.
Our laughter used to echo 'round the corners
but now, the only thing that I can hear
is my heavy breathing.
we used to run and race along these pavements
but now I'm too confused to even just taking the first step.
There used to be you
and me
but now it's just me alone.

I can still recall just how close we were,
Sitting side by side, next to each other.
Intimacy, oh, I remember it all so clearly.
But now we're miles apart,
and all that's left of me is a broken heart.
There used to be us
and we
but now it's all fading away.

There used to be magic and sparks and fireworks
but now it's just silence and distance and tears.
There used to be our story.
There used to be you and me.
There used to be us and we.
But now there's only me,
Thinking about what used to be ours,
now there's only me,
thinking about how we used to be.
