Never Needed Me

by Roque de Castro   Feb 10, 2016

Fell in love with this girl many years ago.
Why I feel the same still I will never know.
I promised her that I will always be there.
A promise left unfulfilled to be quite fair.
By the phone I waited in case she would call.
All the hellos and greetings, never her at all.
Every knock on the door, I rushed to see her face.
But wherever she ran to, it was never to my place.
All the tears, the sadness and the emotion.
Not once my shoulder did she pick to cry on.
Me she always avoided and chose to hide.
Rather than embrace me and come by my side.
All of these years, she has never needed me.
Still, forever, here waiting will I be.
