I wake up in the morning
not recognizing the view.
I wake up in the morning
searching for that breakthrough.

I wash my face
and brush my hair.
I find my shirt dirty
and look for a spare.

I drive to work
searching for meaning.
I complete actions
to find myself redeeming.

At lunch time I
am struck with this thought.
Didn't see it before
Must've been in my blind spot.

My happiness is
not dependent on you.
Who would've thought!
Who would've knew!

I find an inner hope
bursting to escape
I let out the damage
And come out with only a scrape.

The warmth of the sunshine
heats my inner soul.
The breeze caresses me,
and invites me on a stroll.

This new feeling is
hard to describe.
It's beyond holy.
Its beyond divine.

Your rhyme and flow are beautiful in this piece! It's a very important lesson and realization that our happiness comes from within, not from others or their opinions/beliefs about us.

A thought-provoking piece, searching for that meaning in life, that purpose I believe we all have. Love that ending too. The hope and inspiration that we can choose how we react or are affected by. We can choose to be hopeful for the future.

    Take care!

Oh and welcome to PnQ, by the way :)
