You and I

by Mila Blue   Feb 13, 2016

You're gone,
But I can still see you
You didn't feel pain,
But I do
I'm confused
But you were always sure
I loved you,
But you didn't love me
I felt remorse,
You were stone cold
You were my solution
I was your problem
I kept you safe
You put me in harms way
I did as told but still I was never enough

The brevity here is so emotion-filled. The "you" then "I" is powerful and simple in the technique. Sometimes we get hurt and that person is gone and (at least from my experience), it's like you want to write of their absence, make visible that pain. There's such a disconnect here too - like you relied on this person yet they used you to suit them perhaps? Sorry you're going through this. I think when we let others define our self-worth, how "enough" we are, that is the real danger.

    Take care and keep writing.
