Bloodmoon III - Eclipse

by Kakera   Mar 5, 2016

Ash rains down on us
as the world crumbles into nothingness,
and the pulses of the earth
beats softly, and slowly,
as the last embers
of a world passionate
suffers the descent
into endless darkness.

The womb that spawned us
is fated to abandon us,
and the stars will never
forgive us.

Yet we cling to it,
as we cling to destruction
and our souls decay
from fiendish hunger
that refuses to be dispelled.

The Eye of the Cosmos
is dyed scarlet by our bloodlust,
as the mother of our species
watches our folly
burning with relentless fury.

Chaos has already consumed us,
and the embers of our dying passion
continue to struggle in vain
to stay a source of light
to guide us past our darkest hour;

But the Sun and Moon are the eyes
of the Mother we abandoned,
and they permeate the radiance
of an infinity we can never inhabit
to reach past the pointless struggle,

and she is closing her eyes to our prayers,
refusing to witness our inevitable destiny
as we too decay into ash,
leaving behind but our bones
to kindle the dying flame
of purpose and dignity,

and we are bound to struggle,
yet never prevail
against the dark
hidden within us,
and our nature.
