An age has since past
yet, this spring day brings barbed hues:
exhuming nightmares

Barbed Hues- I adore these two words... Makes me think of of barbed wire with a sunset backdrop....I used to sit on my Papa's farm with this very scene.. I would cry my eyes out... pain with beauty... tends to bring on the nightmares..

This is a touching senryu, and very powerful Michael..!!

A brilliant and obscure senryu Michael.
Wonderful title in relation to the poem.

I read this as someone with a winter full of darkness behind them as the sun/spring does its best to burn them away, but the sun and the colours are barbed themselves as they are the ones that "exhume" the nightmares.
I'm probably completely wrong, but that's my interpretation.
    Nominated and all the best,
    Ben
