Earth Day at Jenkins Creek

by David W Palmer   Apr 29, 2016

Tumbling and trickling this journey begins.
Forsaking home waters, riparian
Shade cools your stream bed, as silt, gravel, snags
Welcome spawning chinook salmon, steelhead.
To the Sound! To Sea! To Sky Palaces!
One form or another, liquid, vapor, rain,
You cycle and circle Mother Gaia,
'Til Fall! Splash! Surprise! You're back in my Lake!
O Trepidations! What terrors belie
Your path? Casual careless consumption,
Cosmetics, oil-laden storm run-off,
Greed for groc'ry greenery, ladens your
Waters , with cast-offs of fish-killing filth!
Creator! Bring back Eden, Your Garden!
