Buried it with your hands

by The Po whet   May 19, 2016

"I love you "
I've said those words to you
over and over
seems like they've lost meaning to you.
Nowadays you don't crave for them
like you did when you thought
my love for you was but a facade.

but do you know how hard it is
to speak those words
when they come truly from the heart?

I feel dejected but I won't tell you
I'll just leave quickly and quietly .

why would you want to wait
for my love again
yet you've already buried it
with your very hands?

This is truly a beautiful piece and although short manages to pack in a lot of emotion. Love is never an easy thing to communicate and we can all too often leave our hearts exposed and vulnerable, even with someone who we think we know well.
    A great write. :)

Moa, well here I am back for more coffee. It's great being boss sometimes, though it's my turn for the cake run so not so good because I hate cake haha.

I've read this again and it's perfectly written. I'm gutted my vote have been used up but I'll be sure to nominate as soon as I get them back because this piece deserves it in my eyes. Anyway to the actual piece though shortish in length alot is packed into it. I have to agree with Bens comment about only wanting to have/hear what we can't have cut when it's applied like you did it's such a sad state of affairs.

I am nodding along here because I've been here. I've been both sides of this, wanting to hear the words but them meaning nothing due to hurt and also, saying them until I was blue in the face and them meaning nothing to that person. It's so sad. It's pretty ironic that we only want to hear things, when we want them.

but do you know how hard it is
    to speak those words

This is very true. You can say I love you without meaning them but when we say it from the heart and it's not returned, it breaks us. I'm nodding again.

I totally get this part because nobody wants to feel rejected nevermind admit to it even if it hurts.

why would you want to wait
    for my love again
    yet you've already buried it
    with your very hands?
    ^^
I love this ending. The imagery here, of someone holding our heart in their hands then literally killing it bit by bit is what made me tear up because I have been here as you probably know from my writing that you've read.

Love is the most difficult of things to admit to yet the easiest to be taken from us.
Had to laugh at your reply lol

    So beautiful
    Take care, Em

This is great. I love the first stanza: the idea of this person only wanting to hear the words when she didn't believe they held any meaning. It's that whole wanting what we can't have scenario, isn't it? And then, when we have it, it's no longer quite so novel. Unfortunately, applying that to love like you have here is terribly sad.

Take care and all the best,
    Ben
