Farewell

by Dante Ravenkin   Sep 10, 2016

How do you find me, oh friend of my past
Embracing this pain, and fighting the hate
A tenuous grip, as weak as spun glass
Your hand on the knife, too little too late.

You lament and cry, for kinship destroyed
Point fingers and blame the innocent one
Hoping for a day, where friends fill the void
But sad news for you, that day will not come

But hark now and hear, for my choice is made
'Tween sadness and joy, I'll go with the light
For in darkest days, my choices were weighed
and with sun-filled morn, I do my heart right

Farewell and goodbye! Oh enemy mine
I'll see you around, some place and some time.

What a sad poem. Sometimes friendships aren't meant to be especially after betrayal though some grow into much better things.
Beautiful rhyming and display of a lost friendship.
