To Love

by Debra Ponsaa   Jan 23, 2017

Love soars high above us; dangling on silver
strings hung out from the heavens -
teasing our hearts with its luster.
Almost afraid, we find ourselves quivering
in silence at its majestic sight.

Wanting so desperately to reach high for
its glory, we jump - lifting our hands to
heaven; praying that this time it will last.

Opening our hearts - our emotions left
uncovered and naked;
When love blankets us in a shield of
protection like an armored knight;
Until the pain subsides
and our hearts are full again.
