Controlled Burn

by Aegis   Mar 8, 2017

You threw a spark that
caught my skin on
fire and charred
my bones-

now every word I
whisper singes
my tongue.

7 lines that engender so much more. To me that’s what poetry is all about, 7 lines that create depth and emotion capped off with a descriptive title…. A strong poem, well done

This piece reminds me slightly of another author who used to be on this site. It's a little more simple but it has a similar sense of self and imagery. I promise that this is a compliment.

But on to your work, you used a very cool title to draw me in and you did a nice job of packing a huge punch in such a short piece. Your images and your stanza formation were both powerful as well. Good luck in the weekly contest! And happy writing!

Aegis, you are an absolute genius. Your poetry is always so imaginative (can't think of another word) and it always leaves me speechless even though some may say it's simple it is far from it in my opinion and always gives me so much to think about leading me to read again and again.

1/ Absolutely loved this opening because it reminded me of Saint Valentine launching his love arrow and hitting you with it and you falling for the next person you saw but here somebody (I guess your love) has thrown there all at you causing you to burn and when I say burn I mean burn with love for the and the sparks so hot it burns you thoroughly.

2/ Another fab ending that shows this spark has gone through the whole of your body even burning the words you speak, maybe with love, maybe with anger for them making you fall for them who knows... What I do know is this is fantastic as always.
