Michael, I really liked this a lot. We are always fighting ourselves for right and wrong. We are also our own worse enemy. Well done-

This is a nice depiction of the speaker's conscience/personality, depending on which theorist the reader subscribers to.

In the last stanza, I believe the apostrophe in "piece's" is unnecessary.

I found your use of punctuation quite curious. It gave the piece an interesting pace.
