This guy I once knew

by Kylie Chreky   Sep 27, 2017

( Also I'd like to say that my poem format is just rhyming ever other line/ also wrote this in a course of a few weeks when it was happening)

" A terrible poem for a terrible crush I wrote at 14"

Blue eyes like icy rain
The moment I saw, he took my heart
I thought I'd endured enough of the pain
I deserved a new start

Smile so kind
Humor keen
With clever mind
Eyes with hint of green

Could this be mine
How could I be beautiful
Will it unfold this time
I'm not certain, to be truthful

Those damn eyes that look into your soul
Cool, calm and yet shocking
Will his absence leave a hole?
I fear that he is only mocking

That bus boy
He is trouble
And that expression so coy
I'll try to salvage what's left from the rubble

In good time things shall reveal
Till dawn shall I know
Then I may find the apeal
Why are my expectations so low?

Perhaps it's because I've been hurt in the past
I'm almost sure this will not be the last

( The next day)

I took his tan hat
It was awkward indeed
In silence we sat
I was trying to lead

He probably hates me
I bet he didn't even want to date
But he said I was cute by the oak tree
"This has turned out just great"

No response I'm getting worried
Why do I care
I feel as though this is hurried
Maybe to him it was a dare

Wait, I think things are getting better
He's acting all serious
It has to do with the weather
I think I'm just delirious

He put me in the friend zone
I no longer care
Once more I'm alone
I think it's better off, to be fair

Friday night, betrayal struck
He gossiped all about my flaws
So I said f- you and good luck
It hurt me deep like claws

I ignore him now
The guilt will fester within him
Not a word I will allow
In the end he never did win

Goodbye (his name here) , you must be on your way
Goodbye to the boy I never exactly liked anyway

( Update years later, I'm 20 now. This poem was made when I was 14... I'm keeping it posted since it's hilarious.)

Young love is never an easy journey. They used to say that boys take longer to mature but I've seen men still behave like that when they are old men and like wise women behaving the same way with men.

Trouble is that not all that glitters is gold and it takes time to figure out the good from the bad.

The good thing is that the more lizards you bump into the more likely you are to notice your
Real Prince when he turns up. Milly x
