intoxicated by midnight

1

fine dining is a draught idea
our plates stay clean
almost as if we fear eating

because eating brings people together
and we love to run opposite ways into the dusk

2

skies fall on us
And we become dust

we the universe's eye
as our mouth spoke the lies
and our smiles were but a mere disguise
this relationship a design

3

designs futile
singeing our lips
fusing them in silence

wanting no more design
moving on to ideas of tomorrows
where holding her hand is more
than just skin

4

words do not escape these lips
breathing is faint
sadness death the living corpse
rests near her heart

5

despair
just a emotion

trickle of thought
circumference of ideas
where the last tangent made
was right down the center
of her blood vessels

I hope for it to not pop
for no-one could bear
its internal bleeding

6

love is my budding flower
the bloom in the sky
pain angst sorrow
just pieces of a fragile heart
my company keeps me warm

she could never break my heart
only her little piece of it

Pat...what a captivating come back poem. You usually write in this structure, which is longer than what I usually read from this site and yet your works always see to it I read it to the end. I like the inclusion of dining in the first stanza, and the piece started from that idea moving towards a deeper sentiment at the end. Ahuh-mazing. :-)

Lest I forget, great title too!
