Words of a Loser

by Owner of an Untamed Heart   Jan 7, 2018

The fight wasn't fair, a sound wasn't made
Just a rush of nostalgia ran through my brain
Just a moment in time, the drug slipped in my veins
What is there to gain than what was built from lies?

No crying, no chaos
No disasters, only laughter
Just like that, what you once sought after
Disappeared without a trace
I, the broken healer,
Thought it best to fix what you needed
It's my weakness to save the defeated
It adds charm to the chase

But I give up, I give in
I've lost a game I wasn't fated to win
You are the champion, must be nice to walk out of a war without any scars
This is my reward for having a heart

Such naivety, what a shame?
So much havoc that is tragic
I fought with weapons, but you had magic
Already knowing what would become

So I give up, I give in
I've lost a game I wasn't fated to win
You are the champion, must be nice to walk away from a war completely unscathed
This is my punishment for not staying away

Unfiltered promises you never thought to keep
Fictional emotions you made sure I would see
Our sun burned out unapologetically
But love without truth isn't meant to be

So I give up, I give in
I lost a game only you were fated to win
You are the champion, must be nice to stride from a war with the Devil in your eyes
A smile that matches my broken heart is my only prize
