Kitchen scene

by Walter   Feb 27, 2018

As I pass you in the kitchen
I'm taken back by what I see
And I have to stop to watch you
As you haven't yet noticed me
You are dressed so casually
With just a T-shirt and your jeans
But there’s just something about you
That creates the perfect scene

I quietly sneak up behind you
And slip my arms around your waist
You are startled for a moment
Before you relax in my embrace
I slowly move in closer
As my lips brush past your ear
This has a magnetic motion
As you lean back to get near

Your hands in soapy water
Are suddenly holding mine
This slippery velvet lotion
As we can't help to intertwine
The warmth I feel on my skin
From every drop that you spill
Seems so over shadowed
As your lips are warmer still

I hold you in my arms
As I carry you across the floor
And lower you on the couch
I can sense you wanting more
So I whisper you to relax
And take your shoes off your feet
I cover you with a blanket
So you won't lose all your heat

I find the TV remote
And put on your favourite show
Making sure you're comfortable
Then to the kitchen I will go
I know you are confused
And I sense you missing me
But it's not too long before
I bring you back a cup of tea

I can see you beginning to smile
But you don't know what to say
Before I try to explain to you
That you do this everyday
And I know I have a job
From the hours of nine to five
But the hours you work are longer
And you too need to feel alive

So I'll return to the kitchen
To clean up all that mess
While you relax on the couch
And hopefully de-stress
Before you can say another word
I have already departed
But I promise to come back to you
To finish what we started

Well. Take note fellas! I’m going to hazard a guess that Walter is an EXTREMELY happily married man – lol. This flawlessly rhymed vignette of an everyday domestic scene is blissful and hard to achieve in the usual humdrum of daily life. Whether fact or fiction, the thought behind the poem reveals a very sweet nature. Well done. :-) x

For a minute I thought it was going somewhere and
then...poof! A gentleman who helps out with the chores
does it so romantically now that deserves more then a star!
