Hiding

by Beautiful Chaos   Feb 28, 2018

I hide my eyes
So you can't see inside
I don't think you're ready
I don't think I am
The scars on my skin
Do not compare to the ones underneath
That make me vulnerable
Hurt
Someone touching that again?
I panic at the thought
There are moments you'll catch a glimpse
Happiness
Hope
Walls falling now and again
Those times are easy
But when you hurt
It all lives in the eyes
Every doubt
Regret
The moments that broke you
Every love you'd ever touched
You feel breakable
And right now
I'm still piecing myself back together
So I hide my eyes

Wow BC! I find this beautiful, yet painfully honest at the same time. I love how the first and last line are almost identical - it really adds impact. The fact that people can see the physical scars on our skin (if we choose to let them) but that the real pain and scarring lives inside and can be seen in our eyes (eyes are the windows to the soul etc.). A brilliant write in my opinion :-) x
