Empty Expansion

by Baby Rainbow   Jul 17, 2018

You can look somewhere else
for permission to return,
because you may not enter if you come back
after leaving me with not even a poor excuse.

I have pushed all of our memories away,
further than my already haunted past,
so far away that if you keep looking back
it is like we were never even there.

None of this pain will be left forgotten,
after all, you take up every single word
in every single poem.

I feel torn by the expansion I made
in my heart just for your love,
and you can never undo all that you have done -
it has already scarred the tattered skin of my withering heart.
