Lightning Strikes

by Baby Rainbow   Jul 17, 2018

I have nothing to hide these insecurities any more,
nothing to hide the fact that I still hate you,
but want you to come back.

I have such a powerful fear that your warm embrace
will trap my heart into forgiving you
like the sun forgives the rain.

Another phrase tinged with your voice,
rushes through my mind and reaches my tears.
You don't have to go on acting like you don't know me,
it strikes my heart like lightning striking its gold.

I don't now how all this happened,
when I never even believed there was such a thing
as love being something true.
But how am I supposed to leave when I wasn't born to fight,
and my heart let myself believe that I needed you for survival.

You wanted me to be careful
of the unknown dangers in this world we live in,
but it turns out that loving you,
was the biggest danger I ever faced.
