Absence Lingers

by Soulful Ensemble   Jan 31, 2019

Images of you deep in my heart--
Shadows form slowly
Each time you depart.
Eyes that strike the night
Like lightning into sorrow
Fill my mind with warmth
When you'll return tomorrow.
Lips like soft roses
Lie dormant on your face
With love that imposes
Upon a touch of grace.
Melancholy grief in your absence--
How the hours pass slowly.
In the mirror I lose all sense--
A shadow lurks and covers me.
Missing, yearning, calling
Out into a darkness,
Hoping, praying, knowing
That time erases all of this.
Just a little longer
Then my heart can linger
Where traces of you feel
Like gentle wind upon my fingers.

A lovely rhymed piece that touches my heart and captures exquisitely that feeling of absence. . A most enjoyable read that goes straight to my favourites. Milly x
