Margaritas

by Domenico Sottile   Aug 14, 2019

The day I met you
the margaritas were salty
The girls with parted smiles
watching were wondering
knowing they were not faulty
if we had forgotten the first movie
we had seen in that theatre
we thought groovy

The actress you pretended to be
left the scene without me
The singer I pretended to be
sang songs outdated
and I knew we had not mated

You did not know
someone had tried
long time ago
and that
someone had died

Some day you’ll die
One day
to me you came
when time had gone by
and all was the same
long time ago

Someone was hurt
You defiantly did know
It was only a flirt
and I should have known
