I wonder

They are talking
in the meantime
people are dying

What happened

People are pleading
for their lives
and we are talking

Innocent children
are being killed
-listen-

What happened to

An eye for an eye
cannot be
we cry

Innocent civilians
are coerced
to abandon their homes
as if cursed
and we are talking

Young children
as soldiers
are being slaughtered
what a burden
on their shoulders
and we are talking

What happened to
a good deed
-which we still pursue-

There won’t be

an economy

What’s there
to protect
There no longer be
anything left
