Enlightened

by Domenico Sottile   Aug 25, 2019

Enlightened by a precipitation of stars
we ought to demand
to sooth the opulent volcanoes
of lies and wars
that like maddening rain
they inexorably pour

The deafening thunder of words
from all the volcanoes do not subside
Fatal messages no longer we can hide
for human creatures still give their loyalty
to a concealed one
and give a blind eye
to the needy neighbors
who very badly require
the exigency of even simple doctors

All mythological gods have disappeared thus
how long will others last with us?

Shouldn’t the concealed ones
not take the trillions from much richer children
dividing idem amounts
among starving others?

Why does this concealed entity
favor constantly the rich and powerful
who claim there are reasons
hidden to our comprehension quite in full
to allow such an inconceivable calamity?

Please make my confusion
for me solvent
dear omnipotent

Divinities do not play hide and seek
why do so many claim
to have found them
so to speak
without any footprints on the dry sand?
An answer we demand

Perhaps a collection they are
of forced tragedies by monsters
in order to cancel out the echo
of the mourning of childless mothers
and muffled by the rivers
with waters tainted by young blood
in a amount untold

Certain entities it is true
being born and then dying
are no different than you and I
or if never born nor dead
what then is anyone trying to spread?

Should it really be hard to grasp
that whomever resuscitates
after three days
from completely death
must have for sure succumb again
before ascending or descending
to whatever location you wish to claim
Ah, be weary
of anyone selling
such a story

Domination or control
is not for anyone to call
even if the fear of a divinity
as device is used
just as for centuries humanity
by such control has been abused

Enlightened by a precipitation of stars
we ought to demand
to sooth the opulent volcanoes
of lies and wars
that like maddening rain
they inexorably pour
