Such an emotional piece and I hope this provided relief. The fight to keep going can seem endless, exhausting and weigh us down tremendously. But it is worth it. No matter how deep or buried we may think we are, we must believe there is a way up. Can't wait to read more, hopefully it becomes easier to write as you know I love reading your pieces!
The title instantly made me think of weighted blankets - those blankets that have little glass/plastic beads to add weight to them and the extra weight makes the person sleeping with it think they're being hugged which leads to a release of serotonin which makes it easier for them to sleep more peacefully.
This poem feels like that because you write of that unique deep sleep you can only get when you're truly exhausted:
('when her eyes are sore
ready to fall in that deep
or the sleep after a period of distress/crying
(but her eyes are
as dry as they can get.)
Those sleeps are unique itself, sometimes it's restorative and you wake feeling anew, or you wake up feeling even more run down. Those 'depressing' sleeps (for a lack of a better term) can be someone's weighted blanket and I think you conveyed that idea perfectly.
