To Fall or not to Fall?

by Lemon Squeezy   Mar 29, 2020

Have you ever wondered just exactly how,
You were once in love and are not now?
How love in life will come and go,
When one day’s a yes and another a No?

Do you ever think of love that you have lost,
And how that came to be and what it cost?
‘Tis a complex thing, a heart that’s broken,
And then repaired when new love’s spoken.

You see it seems love has an ebb and flow,
But true love is meant to stay and never go.
So why then does it seem a happenstance,
To love so many at first excited glance?

Should not “I love you” only be said,
To One alone who’s always yours until your dead?
Why then do we recklessly share our hearts,
Never planning to finish what we start?

Me thinks the answer is not to fall at all,
Into the snare of love’s beckoning call.
If one heart falls in love with one heart more,
That same heart can fall again out that same door.

Instead consider this could be the the truer thing,
That love is not a “fall” into a fiery ring.
But ‘Tis a choice to love Forever another soul,
A choice deliberate, delicious and delightful.

For if we make a conscious choice to bond the heart,
To another and choose to finish what we start,
If we choose to love only One unconditional,
Then our love is special and untraditional.

To “Fall” in love with many is to fail in love most true,
But love is not to come and go with five or three or two.
To choose to love One and only One Forever long,
Is to succeed in love most true and never ever wrong.

Yes a beautifully expressed set of thoughts that lead to love with a more honorable meaning.
