Desires

Desires

Once I loved a root
And that root loved me
It kept sucking me
It took all my goods
Till I left nearly empty

Then I loved a branch
And that branch loved me
It kept giving me goods
Fruits and leaves till I left
With painful uselessness

It was only when
I loved a whole vine
Ad that vine loved me
That I was satisfied
Snd put into peace.

I can't help but share that this reminds me of the children's book, "The Giving Tree".
I think in the last stanza, the third line should be "And that vine loved me" and the last line "And put into peace", there were just a few spelling errors?

The contrast of giving but never receiving in the first stanza, being drained of spirit and purpose, yet being given too much in the next stanza that you do not know what do... and finally, finding balance and being interdependent.

    Love this!
