Mother

by Skyfire   May 12, 2020

I am soft and wide
like hips that have seen childbirth
and borne the affliction
of many days of walking -
pacing the floor of a softly painted room
breathing the air from a lazy fan
and humming to the sound of a waterfall.
I am round and full
like breasts spilling over,
full of life and yet exhausted from carrying
the heavy weight of womanhood.
I am deliciously lush
like a flowering bush full of it's own potential
blossoming in the light of affection -
nourished by the warmth of many days
and many nights spent in good company.
I am many heartbeats
all beating together -
with blood vessels intertwined
and lungs breathing in each other's scent.
Simply, I am Mother.
