This Cold is Burning Me

by BOB GALLO   Jun 3, 2020

In absolute darkness I saw you
like a shining object,
like the sea light.
I swerved towards you.
I burned like a moth extending to brightness
like a night road,
to the city.

You burned me as much as the night was cold
and the cold was incurably insufferable.
So I plumped for burning
because at least, it isn’t cold and dark.

This cold
has burned me.
