Gardenias

by BOB GALLO   Jul 10, 2020

What a night it was!
Such an atrocious human-being!
Such an atrocity
being a human!

What a viciousness
is spreading along
on the bloodlines
of these vessels!

Yet
what a beautiful bud
bursting out of this mud
of human being,
wrapped in the cellophane
of morning dews.
::
-I would never let my heart harden.
I would never let my heart to succumb
to this cruelty
we call it living.
Even though sometimes I have to make hard choices,
I would never let hardness, and hate,
harden my heart.
I hope you recognize that!-

I hope you realize that
you are the only breath of fresh air,
the very oxygen that I am breathing.

I want you to know
the air that your exhale
is the fragrance of blooming dawns
to my senses, to my noise,.
The gardenias of your teeth, lit by florescent
burn my candle
roll me drop by drop
into
morning dews.
