Pride

by Love   Jul 13, 2020

Maybe once...
If Love could stand,
Just ever so still,
Inside this fleeting heart of mine;
I wouldn't always feel the need,
To always run.

(Run-
So very far away.)

And Yet...
Here we are-
Two lonely souls,
Seeking the warmth of each others arms,
That now lies galaxies away.

What lingers now,
In the wake of our ruin...
Is the constant yearning.

(Oh!-
This unjustified yearning!)

All for no other reason than,
Our own selfish pride.
