Forest

by Obscure   Jul 28, 2020

Deep in the darkness of the forest
A haunted girl got up to hum
And in the shadows of the forest
There grew a song twas never sung

The spiders spun a crystal web
And diamond droplets rested there
The little creatures kept them fed
Till they were met with morning air

The sunlight shriveled them to dust
And ashes fell from where they lay
The leaves around them gold as rust
And all things burned inside their flame

The deer all lay where they were slain
And birds lay silent in their grave
All hope was muzzled by the pain
That crept like shadows from old caves

A searing heat like sabres flashed
And no thing living could escape
The earth became a thing of ash
And nothing kept it's former shape

The light was dull and rusty, cold
It withered and it went away
The universe became too old
And nothing was allowed to stay
