The Toast Speech: The Bride's brother

by El_Mabini   Mar 23, 2021

The white light was shining on me at that instance,
so I took a sip to drink that sober chance.
I couldn't make any figures but it was calling my name.
They started clapping as if I was from the hall of fame.

Every step I took led me to that source of light.
It was just my sister who was beautiful in white.
She was smiling as she handed me the mic.
Then I remembered I am the star of the night.

In my ears lingered the sound of their clasping hands.
The microphone mimicked my words of wisdom.
Words by words echoed around everyone's hearing glands.
Thank goodness, it brought them everything except boredom.

"I once watched a movie, stuck in love was its name.
I learned this strong quote that couldn't be tamed.
Two types of people in this world exist.
It's either you are a hopeless romantic or a realist.

Hopeless romantics are those people who wait.
They wait because someday they'll meet their soulmates.
As for Realists, they look at things as they are.
People come and go. It's the reality they believe by far.

Well for me, no matter what type you are as a lover.
Learn to love continuously even you are the winner
Or still, care for them even though you are losing.
And that's the end of my toast speech for this evening.

Before the night ended, I drove back to her, hopeful.
The man in a white suit said, "it was miraculously successful."
There she was, laying to rest and was smiling at me.
"You're okay?" I asked and she replied, "Yes I am, honey."

With wet eyes, I could finally wrap my arms around her.
Her brushing fingers brought ease. "Honey, we win, it's over.
Your toast speech changed me to be like Braveheart.
We will be together 'till death do us apart.

Dedicated to Mr. Marco
