They Conspired ...

by BOB GALLO   Apr 16, 2021

(old one)

They conspired against songs.
and the sweet silent sip between the tunes
of two birds.

They conspired
against blue sky.
They conspired against green.

They conspired against clear waters,
and the clarity
in every shape.
They conspired against the truth,
the clarity
of the windows between us.

The conspired against the crescent of our laughter
with the cavities of doubts
whirling like worms
inside the apples of our prime.

They conspired against mirrors,
to deceit our likeness.
They conspired against oxygen
in the gas chamber of their decrease.

They conspired against your eyes,
the only sanity
of my survival.

They conspired against rivers,
with the effluence of their greed
against the free will
of all the flowing things.

They conspired against love,
in their frugal drafts.

They conspired against trust,
the oxygen of this world.
They conspired against roses
in their plastic embellishments.

They conspired against art
by measuring the objects of beauty.

They conspired against poetry
in the
clichés of their rhyme, their forms,
in their sugar infested honey hives
draining out of flowers,
out of insight.

They conspired against birds,
and the mating seasons.

they conspired against melody,
with the austerity of their decrees.
They conspired against authenticity
In the pragmatism of their preferences.

<<>>

But they could not conspire against one seed
that swam
in the womb of creation
to flaunt its neck out
to the conception of timelessness.
