The Autumn of Oblivion

by ddavidd   May 1, 2021

O my friend,
climb the ladder of eternal friendship,
behold,
do you see me?
Do you see the heart that sprout
with its sowing hands splintering to the golden grains
splashing throughout
the time and space?

Do you see the man
that has opened the fountain of his heart
to you
and to the mankind,
the wings that soar an embrace
from the altitudes,
to permanence?

::

Now we forever have found
one another.

If the seasons flee,
if the time rushes with its plough
across our brows and foreheads
like the nectars
inside ripened fruits,
vile and impatient,
to split open.
like the tingle of rupture
in the crease of laughters,

if smile spreads like crack on the windshield
like roots inside the loam of past,
if the oceans heave our coils and currents to surface,
from our bones to skins,
if hurt turn to pearl in the clamshell of our chests,
if skies pour,
if rivers of tears run through the groove of our wrinkles ,
if the file of our bodies
erode from furbishing our souls,
if time surrenders our last remainders of hope.
to the plunder of pains,

if the flames of our arms
quell from the blazes of our embraces
to the glaze of our eyes,
if the blooms of beauty
whither and droop
and kisses pollinate no more,

if life in a wave disgorge our remains
to the shore of our last frontiers,
if time in the shoot of our springs
sprinkle our tales,
leaf by leaf to the autumn of oblivion,
and the winds disperse
even the ashes of our timbers,

still
the bubbles of fraction
would burst
in the flicks of our reaching indexes.
still the beaks of birds
in the mirthful circumfuse of their songs
would brim from the duets of our heartbeats,

and forever
the grapes of winds
would ferment
in the chrysalis barrel
of our fragrance.
