Did You Teach Yourself How to Swim?

by The Parrott King Jordan R. Stephens   Jul 26, 2021

Waves
Waves
Waves
Waves
Water cannot be controlled.
It constantly fights itself it
constantly fights whatever it can’t.
Water loves to hold you tight,
it loves to kill you;
It loves
everything.

Kelp tickles your toes.

Crab claws clap.

Depth death dehydration…
desperate.
Demystify, do the best
that you’ve ever done.
Don’t let dreams take you down.
Don’t let dreams lift you up.

She held you tight while you learned to float.
That was just practice. You were
nothing but a moat.
Shining armour; she was a dragon,
but not the kind you like.

The ocean wants to hold you tight.
The ocean smiles so bright.
The ocean wants to hold you tight.
You’ll never feel so safe at night
as when you tried

With all your might.

Give up!
Say hello to the light.
Give up!
Fight for what is right.
