Stay Handsome, Sunshine

by The Parrott King Jordan R. Stephens   Jan 28, 2024

O’er mountains high, past running stream
Where breezes blow and sun doth beam
I lay and rest my weary head
Under its gentle glow.
My thoughts did drift as I lay there
From leaf and bark, to fawn and hare
Then rested on a single thread
As light faded to dark.
I pondered of the things I’d miss,
The laughs we’d share, the joy, the bliss,
The many tears we might have shed,
It wasn’t right! It was unfair!
But from this sadness I did wake
To see a sight that cured the ache
Your friends and family joined instead
Under a sun so bright.
And as we gather in your name,
Just know we love you all the same,
And wish you well on roads ahead
While watching from above.
