Unwanted Reservation

by Baby Rainbow   Sep 17, 2021

There are so many things I wanted to say but couldn't,
always afraid that it might push you away,
never certain what your response would be,
so I remained completely silent,

and you left me anyway.

You said you would be there until the end of the road,
I guess you weren't prepared to travel
with the baggage you found on my back seat.

I remember telling you
that you were the one person out there
whom I could trust to never break my heart,
never knowing that you would be the person
to turn me into the next level of heartless.

Do you ever think of me now,
or did you learn to let me go?

There is a defiant piece of my heart
that keeps a reservation for you,
without my permission.

I keep wrapping myself up in these chains,
knowing deep down that you will never love me again
and will forever belong to someone else,
without a second thought of what we could have been.
