Alcohol-tainted Eyes

by Baby Rainbow   Sep 17, 2021

I have heard people say
that drugs and money can change someone so much,
but I never knew it could steal someone so fast
even though they never left.

I see your pain every day
when you look at me through alcohol-tainted eyes,
I see your monsters that you find in your bottomless bottle of poison,
knowing that once you start you never look back.

Drinking will define nothing,
when you realise your handprints are all over
the broken pieces of my heart that you shattered
all over the front steps of our bond,
when you became my brother in a bottle,
a stranger with alcohol-tainted eyes,
and a heart now filled with lies.
