Sonnet 58

Preface

Sometimes we stumble upon triggers, which remind us of our beloved who are no more.

Then we may forget our present, and dive into our memories.

These times of remembering, are indeed times of meeting !

And all those years seem like they never passed, and we meet again.

Sonnet 58

How oft in cloudy or in sunny days,
We lose our present to visit our past,
As if the clouds or the shiny sun rays,
Are but shadows of those who didn't last.
How oft the shy drops of October rain,
Quenching mildly the parching dusty land,
Transmute into the boffs, or cries of pain,
Of those who couldn't reach what they had planned.
Here I sit neath a cloudy troubled sky,
And all your smiles, and all your tears come through,
Your voice in my ear, your face in my eye,
No one believes that I am sitting with you !

Tomorrow, when the skies are blue and clear,
Will you still be visiting me, my dear?

More people need to read your poetry! I loved the inclusion of nature here along with the contrast of living in the present versus dealing with the past. I saw this as meeting someone you have lost, or a memory maybe that had been too hard to face before, and you are finding joy and companionship through it. Like someone getting you through a particularly tough and painful day, and then wondering if their presence and fellowship will be there even when the sun is out and there are no clouds. Beautiful!
