Photo shoot

by Shining Stars   Nov 22, 2021

I was going through some old photos in my phone,
Memories past and locked away-
When I stumbled upon some ones we took during a photo shoot of us.
It was a simple picture,
Really.
You and I side by side with our little girl in the middle,
She wasn’t even a year old yet.
Our relationship had been failing miserably at that point in our lives;
We barely spoke when we weren’t screaming angry words at one other outside of the house so the little one wouldn’t hear it.
But for some reason-
We looked happy.
In that very moment;
It was like that picture was all that mattered.
We were all that mattered-
Not all of the pointless fights over stupid things.
You kissed my forehead several times that day.
You let me wear your deceased brothers’ necklace-
Something you’ve never let anyone else do since he passed years ago.
You looked at me like I was still the love of your life-
Even though it felt like the complete opposite sometimes.
We broke up a couple months after that photoshoot-
But I still get the same feeling now as I did then when we were taking the pictures;
Looking at you.
I wish we could’ve stayed in those moments until we forgot why we were mad at each other;
Maybe things would’ve turned out differently.
I miss you.

    Wouldn't it be great if we could stop time and revisit the happy moments. A compelling read. Milly x
