Drunken Gaps

by Baby Rainbow   Dec 22, 2021

You are my brother by blood,
whether I like it or not,
but you will never remember
what I can never forget.

We had it all,
the perfect bond,
but I guess I was just
the cost of business,
thanks for nothing
except heartaches and scars.

When you wake up sober,
do you ever try to fill in the gaps?

Do you even care
that there was so much I wanted to do with my life,
but I can;t get back up
until you take your baggage
and stop weighing it down on me.

Words get caught up in the open,
especially when they come
straight from a painful heart,
and I don't want to slip
any poison from my tongue,
to find myself saying that I am falling too,
because we both know
you will be drowning in your own poison
oblivious of who you take down with you.

And when you wake up sober,
and realise I have gone,
will you even try at all
to fill in the gaps you made?
