Life

by Jesse Low   Jun 6, 2022

The days of all we know are bottled deep inside,
held within the endless changing sky
Troubles come and troubles go,
the years that marked my ever forming life
My experiences are long, drawn out through those times, though sitting here now its just a blink of eternities eye
Voices of my children ring in my ears, their laughter a sweet song of happy and bitter tears
The long years cannot erase,
the love I feel for their aging face
Ghosts of the past to never again show to me what it means to be young and free
This shell is old and tired, yet I continue on
caged within the hour glass of time
My heart is strong as my body is weak, my souls needs not the bountiful sleep
My memories form, I cannot say goodbye
To never know what can never be, its all escaped me and passed my by
My existence becomes shorter with each setting sun, when the raindrops fall from my eyes my will is done
I do not regret, I do not hate
I come with a willingness to accept this fate
Of life's only lesson, a journey I await, knowing its not
my place to decide when the hour comes
