The sweet misery of life

by Jesse Low   May 13, 2023

My world I create is the only world I can know. Through difficult days I carry on, through the good, I coast. Immersed in a sweet existence, I experience it all. This life has surprises that bring great pain and confusion, a conglomeration of happiness and love, but that is also the sadness. Nothing is forever in our weak flesh, nothing is truly measurable or constant. The love you feel as endless, turns to ashes in your mouth with each dying breath. The existence of truth and joy within us can only be balanced with lies and anger, to reach out and grab all you can hold. To grasp either too tight is not to live, but to be a pawn of either side that seeks to control you, no peace, no solace. To me and my own, we dig a shallow grave, never to really live or give into death. We toil on and grow anew, passing on what we carry on our shoulders to our precious young. Only those who see the chain as breakable, push on with new hope for our existence among the torture of our short lives. The school of life gives what we can conceive, but hides what we cannot. To bring understanding to the mechanism of it all is our goal, but never our final thought. The light will guide you as the darkness wraps around you, stealing your consciousness in this world of chaos. Follow that tough road, make an impact on lives, love fiercely, hate in small doses. Be easy to speak, and appreciate the gifts of this never ending dance of life. Thankful I am, grateful ill be to experience this beautiful misery of all that is offered, and all that is yet to come. I am blessed and blessed I will be.

My best and easiest poem to write. Strange how the ones that take the least effort are also the ones that has the most meaning
