Love from a Distance

by Milo   Aug 16, 2022

I'm not the same person,
since you left.
The depths in which you have
to go to find me, is wrought
with rain and sorrow in a winding path.

Feel me detached, my back turned against
the tides that brought you here.
I'm next to you, our bodies entwined,
but you see me distant in your embrace.
My closeness is the winter room
you struggle to stay in as I'm floating
from you with the waves.

I think you saw me leaving, and the light
in my eyes that fades to black.
I'm caressing your hair and
I kiss your forehead, but the
cruel space between our hearts
becomes too distant and far apart.

The depth is far and wide
to feel my bleeding heart for you,
but I'm still here.
I hope you feel my love from afar,
from a distance so bravely
that won't burn you or me away.
But when no one's looking,
and I am tired of existing in this world,
I get to stop and smile to myself
when I think of you.
